The Things I Say…

Engage the brain before the mouth,

Is what they always say.

Think first, before you speak,

That’s the cliche.

But at times I just can’t help,

But belt out what’s inside.

I know they don’t understand

But there are somethings that I just can’t hide.

I speak my mind,

I verbalize,

You don’t have to listen.

Because things I say

Aren’t necessarily wise.

But I don’t speak in metaphors,

I tell it as it is.

I can’t even make rhymes

This is a testament to this.

I’m sorry if I offended you,

I sure didn’t mean to.

Or maybe I did,

But trust me,

Most of the things I say is true.

If you can’t stand the things that were said,

Feel free to leave.

I’m not seeking for attention,

So you’re attendance is of little consequence.

Now I ask,

Why am I writing

Something this sad and somewhat depressing?

I really don’t know.

I’m just articulating the thoughts

I would like to show.

No, it’s crappy poetry,

That much I’m sure.

But hey! I did warn you!

I speak before I think

And as it is, that’s my life’s truth.
